When glass is shiny and clean, it enhances the beauty of a home, office, or shop. In modern architecture, the use of aluminum windows, doors, and glass partitions has increased significantly. However, the biggest problem with glass is that dust, fingerprints, and water stains become visible on it very quickly, making the whole place feel dirty. Many people use ordinary cloth or the wrong chemicals to clean glass, which causes scratches on the surface. In today's post, we will tell you easy, cheap, and effective ways to clean glass so that your glass always shines like new.
1 Use of Newspaper
Using newspaper for cleaning glass is an old and proven method. Cleaning glass with an ordinary cloth leaves small fibers sticking to the glass, but this does not happen with newspaper.
Method: Spray a little water or glass cleaner on the glass, roll the newspaper into a cloth-like shape, and clean the glass in a circular motion. The ink of the newspaper provides a special shine to the glass.
2 Magical Solution of Vinegar and Water
If you do not want to use expensive glass cleaners, white vinegar is the best and cheapest alternative. It cleans stubborn dust and hard water stains accumulated on the glass in seconds.
Method: Mix one cup of white vinegar and one cup of clean water in a spray bottle. Spray it on the glass and wipe it with a microfiber cloth or newspaper.
3 Microfiber Cloth
Always use a microfiber cloth for cleaning glass instead of an ordinary cotton cloth or towel. This cloth is specially made for glass and delicate surfaces, which absorbs all the dust and dirt inside it without causing any scratches.
Method: Clean the glass by dampening one cloth slightly and dry it immediately with another dry microfiber cloth.
4 Use of Wiper or Squeegee
A squeegee, a small rubber wiper, is the best tool for cleaning large windows, glass doors, and bathroom mirrors. With this, cleaning is done in minutes, and water lines do not form on the glass.
Method: Spray cleaner on the glass and run the wiper from top to bottom in a single direction. Dry the wiper with a clean cloth each time.
5 Dishwashing Liquid for Bathroom Mirrors
Hard stains of soap and water accumulate on bathroom mirrors and shower cabins. Ordinary water is not enough to clean them.
Method: Mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid in a little warm water and rub it on the glass using a sponge. Afterwards, wash it with water and wipe it clean with a wiper or a dry cloth.
6 Use of Kerosene Oil
While getting paintwork done at home, paint splatters often fall on the glass, or stubborn stains from tape and stickers get stuck, which cannot be cleaned at all with ordinary water or glass cleaner. Kerosene oil is best for these stubborn stains.
Method: Slightly dampen a clean cloth or a piece of cotton in kerosene oil and gently rub it on the paint or stained area. The paint will melt away immediately. After cleaning the stains, clean the glass again with ordinary soapy water or glass cleaner to remove the smell and greasiness of the kerosene oil.
Important Note: While using kerosene oil, make sure that it does not touch the rubber of the aluminum frame too much, and ensure that no fire or burning object is present nearby during cleaning.
Avoid These Mistakes During Glass Cleaning
Do not clean in bright sunlight: Do not clean when sunlight is directly falling on the glass, because the cleaner will dry quickly and permanent chemical stains will form on the glass. Always clean in the evening or in the shade.
Do not use harsh scrubbers: Never use an iron mesh or harsh scrubber to remove settled dust on the glass, as this will cause permanent scratches on the glass.
Clean from top to bottom: Always start cleaning from the upper part of the glass so that dirty water flows downwards and the clean lower part does not get dirty again.
