As-salamu alaykum, I am Noman. Last month, I installed decorative leaded glass on the main door of a client in Sahiwal Defense. They were tired of simple tempered glass. When we installed this glass, the entire look of the house changed. As soon as guests arrive, they ask where this door was made from. Today, I am sharing my 5 years of experience regarding what leaded glass is, how it is made, and what its rate is in Punjab and Sindh in 2026.
What is Decorative Leaded Glass?
This is not ordinary glass. In this, a design is made by joining small cut pieces of glass with metal strips. The edges of the glass are cut at 45 degrees so that a diamond like shine appears as soon as light hits it. I also installed this same design on the main gate of a marriage hall in Rawalpindi Bahria Town. In the evening, when the light hit it, the entire gate used to shine like gold.
How is it Made?
First, the design is made on paper or AutoCAD floral, Islamic geometric, or modern, whatever the client requests. In this, 5mm or 6mm glass is cut at a specific angle, which becomes the secret of the shine after the complete structure is formed. The cut pieces are joined using an H-shaped lead strip. This also provides strength. After the entire panel is made, it is sealed between double glass so that dust does not go inside. Then, it is fitted into a wooden or aluminum frame. This is trending more in aluminum nowadays.
3 Benefits of Installing in the Home
Even a simple wooden door starts looking like a palace. It is best for the TV lounge and main door. Light comes inside, but it is not visible from the outside to the inside. It is perfect for bedroom doors. Because it is inside double glass, it does not break. Cleaning is also easy; on the outside, only simple glass has to be cleaned.
Its Rate in Punjab and Sindh in 2026
Simple Floral Design 6mm Glass: 2,200 to 2,800 rupees per square foot.
Complex Design 6mm Double Glass: 3,700 to 4,400 rupees per square foot.
The rate will increase by 35% with an aluminum frame.
Note: The more handwork there is in the design, the higher the rate will be. If you use imported brass strips, the price will increase further.
Where Can it Be Installed?
It looks extremely beautiful when installed on the home main door, TV lounge partitions, marriage halls, hotel lobbies, and office main gates.
One final thing: This work requires a craftsman's hand. It is not made by machine. Therefore, always get it installed by an experienced person.
