After the fitting of aluminum windows doors and glass walls clients often get glass paper installed on the glass as an alternative to privacy curtains or for beauty. If the glass paper is not installed cleanly air bubbles form inside it or the paper gets crooked which ruins the beauty of the entire work and damages the paper as well. Let's learn the technical and step-by-step method of how a professional craftsman sticks glass paper on glass.
Required Tools
Before starting the work it is mandatory for the craftsman to have these things.
Designer glass paper of the client's choice.
Fill a spray bottle with water and mix a few drops of shampoo in it.
A plastic squeegee wiper to remove water and air from under the paper.
A sharp paper cutter to trim excess paper.
A measuring tape to measure the size.
A clean cloth or newspaper to clean the glass.
Step-by-Step Method of Installing Glass Paper
Glass Cleaning
First of all clean the glass. If even a little dust silicone stain or debris is left on the glass the paper will lift from there and form a bubble.
Spray the shampoo water onto the glass from the spray bottle and using the cutter blade thoroughly scrape and clean all types of accumulated dust or silicone from the glass. After that use the squeegee and wipe the glass completely dry and clean with a cloth.
Paper Cutting
Measure the complete size of the glass using a measuring tape. Spread the glass paper on the floor or a clean table keep it about half an inch or an inch larger than the actual size of the glass and cut it with the cutter. The excess paper will be trimmed from the edges later.
Wetting the Glass
Now generously spray the shampoo water onto the cleaned glass using the spray bottle. No part of the glass should remain dry. The benefit of applying water is that the paper does not stick to the glass immediately and you can easily move it right or left to align it.
Removing the Backing and Sticking the Paper
Gently remove the thin protective backing sheet from behind the glass paper and also lightly spray the shampoo water onto the adhesive side of the paper. Now hold the paper from the top two corners and place it completely straight onto the glass. Due to the water the paper will start floating on the glass. Press it lightly with your hands to bring it into position according to the frame.
Removing Water and Air
Once the paper is seated in its correct place spray a little water on the front side of the paper as well so that the squeegee moves smoothly. Now place the plastic squeegee exactly in the center of the glass and move it from the inside toward the outside up down right and left by applying light pressure. This will push out all the water and air bubbles present under the paper from the edges.
Trimming Excess Paper
When all the water is removed cut and separate the excess paper along the edges of the frame using a sharp cutter. In the end use the squeegee one more time and dry the edges of the glass with a clean cloth. Your glass paper has been installed with factory like neatness without any bubbles.
