How to Install Aluminum Frames and Glass in Curved Walls

I am Noman, from Lahore, and I have been doing aluminum and glass work for the last 5 years. Last month, a client in Bahria Town called stating that two fixed frames needed to be installed on their curved wall window. Two big contractors demanded 45,000 to 50,000 rupees. I used this exact method to do both fixed frames for 35,000 rupees, and the client was happy.

Today, I will tell you the same traditional method that our masters have been using for 20 years. For this, an expensive bending machine is not required.

Measuring the Wall Curvature and Making a Template

Before starting work on any curved wall, the most important thing is accurate measurement. Place a wooden sheet or hardboard on the lower part of the wall to prepare a template of the actual curvature of the wall. Then, divide this curvature into small, straight sections. The more curved the wall is, the smaller the aluminum pieces you will have to cut. Generally, an angle of 2.5 to 5 degrees is kept. The rest depends on the curvature of the wall, according to which you will apply the degree to the aluminum length.

Cutting Small Pieces of Aluminum

Ordinary aluminum channels come in straight lengths, so they have to be cut into small sections to give them a curved shape. The aluminum pieces are not cut at a completely straight 90 degrees. Set the miter cutter machine at 2.5 to 5 degrees, according to the curvature of the wall. The size of all pieces must be equal. Use internal corner brackets to join them.

Preparing and Installing the Frame

Join all the small pieces according to the angle and secure them tightly using screws or rivets. This way, the frame will automatically take a curved shape. Now, place this frame in the curved wall and check it. Wherever it is loose, apply wooden packing, then fix it firmly with rawl plugs and screws.

Glass Measurement and Cutting

The benefit of this method is that the glass does not have to be cut in a curved shape. After installing the frame, measure the width and height of each small box separately. Then, get straight glass cut according to each box. If the budget is higher and joints are not preferred, you can order curved glass from a factory, but that costs 4 times more.

Installing Glass and Waterproofing

Install the glass carefully in each box with the help of fixing rubber. Use high-quality silicone to seal the gaps left between the joints. Apply it on both the inside and outside sides so that rainwater does not come inside.

Important Tips

Use at least 6mm or 8mm tempered glass for large curved windows. The blade of the miter cutter must be sharp; otherwise, the joints will look bad.

Cost Estimation in 2026 Pakistan Punjab

I have taken these rates from my recent work. Installing mercury glass and aluminum in a fixed window exactly like this costs 1,300 rupees per square foot. If you use curved glass from a factory, this same expense goes up to 3,500 rupees per square foot.

Summary

Installing aluminum and glass in a curved wall is a skilled job, but if correct measurements are taken and the aluminum is cut at the right angle, a beautiful curved design can be prepared even without any expensive machine.
